No word yet on if they’ll need to see them, but it was brought up while applying for a pre-approval. Reason being my spouses credit has been idle a year, all prior accounts were paid as promised on time, just haven’t needed any new accounts, so he never bothered opening anything leaving him with a great credit history, but no score… My score and history is fine. So anyway my question… We’re applying for an FHA loan (still waiting for pre-approval) the mortgage consultant said we will be pre-approved with contingencies (we’re currently waiting for the underwriter to get everything together). Now I’m not sure if he was referring to validating our utility bills as a contingency or if he was speaking of something different, maybe a last resort thing? I’m not sure… I know I should have asked at the time, but I didn’t think of it then. My dilemma is my utility payments have been late a lot. Never sent to collections, never received shut off notices, just a bill I never bothered to pay asap, lazy about it I guess lol.. Now I’m worried my utility bills will be a contigency in a loan. My cosignor agreed to open up a Sallie Mae Private Signature student loan for me so that I could attend college. The loan amont was originally 12,500. I attended AIU in Buckhead, GA. It was a complete rip-off and the students were given false info about the school. It was a private over priced college that promises students resources that they do not have. I attended the school for 2 quarters and was forced to go home because I didnt qualify for anymore loans to cover the rest of my education. Well, now I am back in baltimore and I arrived here in 2008 and it was a very tough time for me because I had no job, no place to live, I didnt have anything. So I tried to put my loan on deferment after the 6 month time frame they give you regardless if you graduate or not. But then I recieved a letter in the mail from sallie mae accusing me of opening up the loan without my cosigner’s consent. This is absolutely ridiculous that they put people through this but I would never open a loan up in someone else name just to go to college..NEVER!!! So after they accused me with just a letter (I saw no police reports and there was no investigation done) they denied me for any deferments or forbearances and demanded that the loan be paid in full. Of course I could not pay them back or make any payments at the moment because I was unemployed and homeless. Of course my loan defaulted because of this, but they do not care at all. I need some help or someone that can lead to someone who could assist me with this because I know I can sue Sallie Mae for falsely accusing me of fraud which resulted in me defaulting on my loan. I have 4 bills due on the 1st of the month which is a real pain since I get paid on the 30th or 31st which is last day of the month. This means my 4 bills are due the next day. I would like to see if these companies will allow me to push my due dates back about 2 or 3 days to give me enough time to actually sit down and make the payment. Luckily for me I use online payments or this would be an even larger issue if I were to have to mail a check in.
